Evidence-based therapies
Susan focuses on using evidence-based therapies and keeping her skills and experience up-to-date with the most current research findings on treatment effectiveness. 'Evidence-based' therapies are those that have undergone rigorous scientific testing and have produced evidence for it's effectiveness in relieving symptoms or enhancing quality of life. For example, cognitive behavioural therapy now has a large body of evidence showing its effectiveness in treating anxiety disorders, depression, and many other psychological problems. However not every style of therapy will suit every individual or every specific problem, so Susan will work closely with you in tailoring these approaches to your specific needs. If you've tried a certain therapy before and found it to be unhelpful, she will also explore this with you to better understand why it wasn't helpful and what is likely to be more effective for you at the moment.
